Director of Digital Marketing – Jaime
Meet our Director of Digital Marketing, the analytical side of Epic Productions. Jaime and her team oversee all the online advertising efforts of our client’s. The digital team places all our creative content throughout various digital platforms including pay-per-click, YouTube, and social media advertising. Not only generating new traffic but also re-engaging previous visitors. You know the ads that follow you around, she says, “you’re welcome”.
What does a Digital Marketing Strategist do?
A digital marketing strategist lives online and observes it all. The ultimate goal is to extend brand awareness and online presence. We know the trends before they happen, we define target audiences, we even know how much the competition spends. My department strategically places all the content online for advertising purposes (SEM), as well as manage the overall website experience and organic results (SEO). No two days alike, we’re constantly learning and evolving with technology with everyone else.
What is your most memorable project while working at Epic?
First off, if you ever get the chance to dump six tons of snow on my parent’s lawn, DO IT! We created a Kick-starter video for Easy Shovel towards the end of the summer and we had to act fast. It was so hot that day but it so cool to have Mom on set. I could have done without embarrassing childhood stories but she made up for it with her homemade snickerdoodles. Ohhhh, Peggy!
The other project that is near and dear would be a Super Bowl Commercial. Let’s just say a star was born when my Golden Retriever, Gwennie was cast as an extra to run beside a jogger in the background. Alex would call, “ACTION”, my little star would prance her heart out. She’s not a running dog by any means; she’s kind of a princess (I don’t know where she gets that from).
Favorite thing about working at Epic?
With a name like “Epic”, the expectations are high and thankfully the resources we have to meet those expectations. The creativity and ideas that come out of this place are like no other. Cutting corners or outsourcing just isn’t our forte. Everything is done in-house, so my favorite thing is seeing it all come together. Consistency is key and we consistently raise the bar one project at a time. People know our name because of our work.
What is the hardest part about your job?
It’s the nature of the beast but I think constantly advancing keeps you on your toes more than anything. Sometimes you’ll have a solid strategy in place and out of nowhere the trends change. When everyone goes after the same criteria it becomes saturated, eating the budget alive. Staying in front of the competition is a constant battle but nothing we give up on. Out-strategizing the competition within budget can be tedious at times. No two days are the same and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
If you didn’t work in marketing, what would you do?
It’s always been marketing for me, I still know every jingle to every commercial. Juicy Fruit one was my favorite, we should bring back jingles! If not marketing or advertising, it would be something pertaining to technology. I’ve been fortunate to grow up with computers and see the advancements first hand. In the beginning, it was assumed I’d find my way into the “family business”. My father is a partner of Engineering Firm that designs and manufactures training systems for the military. It’s been a lucrative career path for my brother, who’s a software developer but I think it’s a bit too technical for my attention span.
Tell us one fun fact about yourself.
My shredding skills are of drinking age! I just finished my 21st consecutive year snowboarding. Never took a season off. Started skiing at 5 years old and playing the snow ever since. It’s my happy place, good to unplug every so often.
If you had to choose one food item to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Listies!!! It’s a German dish that’s been in the family for years. Pretty much a pork cabbage roll that’s sautéed in sauerkraut juice and serves with potatoes. Tastes like Christmas!
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
Costa Rica. PURA VIDA! I was there last November and almost didn’t want to come home. The expats were so inspiring, surf all day and jam out to Lynyrd Skynyrd all night. I could do that.
If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items would you want to have with you?
OMG, my kids would love that! I’d bring 1.) Gwennie (Golden Retriever) 2.) Bruin (Black Lab) and 3.) a ball.
